2004 OUTSTANDING CONSERVATIONIST NAMED
The Faribault County Master Gardeners were selected as 2004 "Outstanding Conservationist" for Faribault County. Carol Tipler, MaryJo Anderson, and Wendy Cole (Master Gardeners) were selected because of their active involvement in working with local communities on rain garden projects. Their hard work and dedication has helped to educate the public about the problems that stormwater runoff create, while providing people with a beautiful solution. The Master Gardeners have been providing assistance to communities by locating potential sites, planning, designing, and installing rain gardens.
The Faribault County Master Gardeners have taken a concept that is new to the area and have volunteered many hours into educating others in the surrounding communities on rain gardens. The SWCD felt they needed to be recognized for their hard work and dedication toward improving local water quality and making the county's small communities a more attractive place to live. With every project they complete the trend will continue to grow as more people learn how rain gardens work.
