JUDICIAL DITCH 10 WETLAND RESTORATION PROJECT

The State of Minnesota, through the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), working with the Faribault SWCD, the local drainage authority, and several landowners proposed to restore a series of farmed drained wetland basins along the upper reaches of JD 10.  These landlocked basins have experienced frequent flooding in recent years, often of long duration.

The intended functions of the project are flood control, drainage system improvement, improved water quality and wildlife habitat.  The project is an alternative to a major repair or improvement of the JD 10 system.  The BWSR through the CREP program has secured four perpetual conservation easements from two landowners covering 156 acres to facilitate this project.
